I grew up on a row crop operation in Washington county, Iowa in a family of 7. I loved everything about being in the country and living on a farm. The smells, the colors, the sounds, the activities (even the not so fun ones). This love grew as I continued into college, leaving me homesick frequently. I had been working during my summers for different companies in their marketing department, learning and growing my skills. I knew what I wanted to do after I graduated, but I had no clue where. I was holding out for the trifecta, somewhere that focused on marketing strategies, design skills, and agriculture.

During my junior year at ISU while taking an entrepreneurial class, we were tasked to create an imaginary or real business and write up a business plan that we would later present to our class. The idea of starting my own business was daunting, but exciting at the same time. This assignment ended up being something I really enjoyed working on, and intriguing to think about running some day. I decided to work on Wildflower as a side project after finishing the course, but it stayed a side project after graduation, for fear that I wasn’t ready to be running a company. However, I didn’t realize just how much I missed working in the world of agriculture until it was looming over my head like a dark cloud. So, in November of 2021, I took the leap, and now I run Wildflower full time where I get to work on new projects, meet some amazing people, and continue down my agricultural path.

    Hey, I'm Emily :) The one who brought this Wild experience to life! I started Wildflower as a project at ISU in 2019 and quickly decided there was no better place for me. My love for ag stemmed from growing up on my family farm, and has blossomed with me ever since! Art became a part of me later in life, and really took off during my late 4H years. I was struggling to pick one for a career path, so I picked both!

    While Wildflower is a big part of who I am, I also enjoy so many other hobbies! Including gardening, baking, playing piano, being with family & friends, & just being outside! I am currently 25 and soon to be married to my fiancé Kyle this coming November (after harvest of course!). We reside in the little town of Houghton, and have our own farm operation just outside of town.

    Hi, I'm Hailey! Farmer by day, marketing master by night! I have loved growing up on my family cattle operation and capturing the essence that is the Midwest through photography. I am currently finishing my final semester at Kirkwood, and plan to stick around southeast Iowa after graduation to help further on the farm and work with our amazing clients!

    With Wildflower, I handle all client needs, from social media consulting, to website edits, to capturing them in action. I have loved being able to work hand in hand with the agricultural community to bring them digital communication solutions for the past few years with Wildflower!

  • McKenna Murphy

    SOCIAL MEDIA MANAGER

    I am currently a junior at West Texas A&M University, majoring in Agricultural Media and Communications. Growing up on a commercial cattle operation in eastern Colorado, I’ve been deeply involved in the agricultural world from a young age. From showing steers to participating in livestock judging, I’ve created a strong connection with the industry. Now, I’m channeling that passion into agricultural communications here in Canyon, TX, where I’m learning how to combine creativity with effective communication.

    Being on the Wildflower team has me really excited and happy to be part of something that allows me to do what I love—capturing the unique aspects of agriculture while working alongside the people who dedicate their lives to it. My goal is to be a genuine advocate for this essential way of life, using my capabilities and skills to deliver impactful content and make a lasting impression in the field.
